It's one of the boldest and most audacious rescue missions ever accomplished — Operation Thunderbolt. On June 27th 1976, a Paris-bound Air France flight originating from Tel-Aviv carrying 248 passengers was hijacked after take-off in Athens and taken to Entebbe Airport in Uganda. Non-Jewish passengers were released and Jewish passengers were held hostage by Palestinian terrorists who threatened to kill everyone if their demands were not met.
