"Whoever is born of God
overcomes the world. " 1 John 5:4

Born to win - Why you might be losing rather than winning
"Like Father, like son"

borntowinOne of the main benefits of being born of God is the certainty of victory. No one can be more certain of the victory than someone who has experienced the new birth.

When a child is born to his parents, he naturally carries characteristics inherited from parents: eye color, hair, skin, facial features, physical expressions, etc. And not only does he take on their physical features, but also emotional, intellectual, and moral qualities – in such a way that people can say: "Like father, like son."

Spiritually, this is also true.

When someone is born of God, that person becomes a temple of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit begins to dwell in him. And then, as he allows, the Holy Spirit begins to shape his character and make it more and more like God's own character.

One of these character qualities is determination to overcome. A person who is born of God has an unyielding determination to overcome, no matter the circumstances. He is truly "born to win." And of course this determination accompanied by the ability to overcome.

In other words, God not only makes His children want to win, but He also makes them able to win.

"For whoever is born of God, overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith." Therefore, everyone who is born of God has the ability to overcome. As God Himself is an Overcomer, so are His children.

It's difficult for some Christians to believe or even to accept this fact because they have been so used to defeat and failure all their life that they suddenly find the idea of overcoming as too far-fetched. But this is the desire God has for His children. As He said to Joshua, "No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life." Joshua 1:5

"A person who is born of God has an unyielding determination to overcome, no matter the circumstances!"

If you want to be an overcomer – always – your first priority should be to be born of God.

If you already are, then you should know that within you is a power to overcome, not only one problem, but the whole world.

Now whether you use this power or not, is your decision. You may well be born of God and yet never overcome, because you won't use the power that is within you. Win or lose – it's up to you.
