MEET YOUR YPG LEADER
Pr. Luke CASTRO

prluke-ypgGrowing up in a home where alcohol and verbal abuse was the norm caused Luke Castro to develop a hardened rebellious attitude towards his parents – especially his father.  Frustration and anger built up after years of watching his father consistently humiliate his mother to the point that she would smash dishes on the floor in rage.

He was failing in school and had to redo the same grade three times in a row.  He spent as much time away from home drinking in nightclubs just to get away from the shouting.  He knew he was getting out of control when he violently pushed his father to the floor to defend his mother from another outburst.

At 19, Luke reluctantly came to church after his mother had invited him many times.  He was intrigued by the way the pastor spoke of practical things that related to his life, unlike the traditional religion he grew up in.  He wanted a change and knew that God was his answer.

His anger and hatred left, along with his constant insomnia.  He got involved in the charity work of the church and then in the youth group, where he met his wife, Raphaela.  In a matter of months, Luke was transformed into a new man and dedicated his life to serving God.

Luke has been in the ministry since 1999, and was married in 2002.  He and Raphaela have served God in Brazil, London England, Los Angeles, and now Houston.  He enjoys leading the Youth Power Group and teaching teens the powerful messages that have changed his life.

Pastor Luke has been the Youth Pastor for Succeed in Life Center, Houston since August, 2009
